The short version: your documents are encrypted moving and at rest, only you and the people filing your return can see them, and we never see your card number.
1. How your documents travel and sit
Everything you send us moves over an encrypted connection, and it's encrypted while it's stored, too. That's true from the moment you upload a document to the moment a CPA opens it to file your return.
2. Who can open your file
Your account is the only way in to your file. Every request checks that the person asking owns what they're asking for; there's no page where one filer can browse into another filer's documents. Beyond you, the only people who see your file are the licensed CPA who reviews and files your return and the service providers we use to run Cofiled, each limited to what they need to do their part.
3. How we use automated tools
Software, including AI-based tools, reads the documents you send us so we can build your draft faster. We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and it isn't shared beyond what's needed to prepare and file your return.
4. Payments
Filing fees are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
5. Report a problem
Found a security issue, or something on this page looks wrong? Email hello@cofiled.com. We want to hear about it.
