Why we exist
It was never you.
Taxes really are built this hard. Here’s who we’re for, and why we won’t stop.
There’s a moment every year, a form open, a line you can’t place, a fee that showed up out of nowhere, where you think, should I just pay someone? Then you count the hours, or the money you don’t have, and you close the laptop. Again.
That’s not a personal failing. The tax system quietly works best for people who can afford someone to work it for them, a good CPA doesn’t just file, they find what you’re owed and defend it. That costs more than most people have. So the people with the least slack pay the most: in late fees, in refunds never claimed, in weekends that vanish, in the stress that doesn’t.
The wealthy already have this. Optimized, defended, done-for-them returns are simply what money buys. The unfairness isn’t that taxes are hard, it’s that they’re hardest for exactly the people with the least room to absorb it.
We built Cofiled for those people. Not the wealthy, not big companies, the landlord with two units, the contractor with a shoebox of receipts, the family that’s a couple years behind and dreading the mail. Software does the heavy lifting a CPA used to bill by the hour, so getting it done right stops depending on what you can afford.
The IRS just wants what’s owed, on time. We’re here to help you hand them exactly that, no more, no less, without it costing you your savings or your sanity. The person with no slack gets the treatment the wealthy take for granted. That’s the whole point.
That’s who we’re doing this for.
